Technician sealing around an aluminium window frame

If your door has seals and you still hear everything, the seals are probably not doing their job anymore. Here is why that happens — and what actually fixes it.

What seals are supposed to do

A door seal has one job: fill the gap between the moving panel and the frame so air cannot pass. No air path means far less noise, dust, and cooled air escaping. When seals work, a closed door feels solid and quiet.

Why they fail in Dubai

  • Heat — rubber hardens and loses its spring in sustained high temperatures.
  • Dust — fine sand works into the seal and grinds it down with every slide.
  • Compression set — seals pressed flat for years stay flat; they never spring back.

The test you can do yourself

Close the door on a bright day and look at its edges from inside. If you see daylight lines, that is your noise coming in. On a windy day, hold a tissue near the frame — if it flutters, air (and sound) is passing through.

What actually works

Replacing like-for-like with the same thin seals repeats the problem. We fit compressible weather strips that keep pressing against the panel, and we realign doors and windows so the gaps are even and closable. That combination is what quiets a room — see our soundproofing service.
