When resealing is enough
If the frames are straight, the glass is intact, and the windows slide without jumping, the problem is almost certainly seals and alignment. New weather strips, fresh frame sealant, and panel adjustment close the air paths — and the noise drops with them. This covers most of the sliding windows we see.
When the window itself is the problem
- Frames bent or corroded beyond adjustment
- Single thin glass in an extremely noisy location (though sealing still helps a lot)
- Rollers collapsed so panels cannot align at all
