A retractable fly screen is beautifully simple. A slim cassette holds a roll of mesh at the top or side of your window. You pull the mesh across when the window is open, and it springs back into the cassette when you close up. Nothing to remove, nothing to store, nothing blocking your view.

If you have ever wrestled a fixed screen out of its frame for cleaning, you will appreciate how much easier this is.

How the Mechanism Works

  • The cassette: A slim aluminium housing fixed above or beside the window. It holds the rolled mesh and the spring mechanism.
  • The pull bar: A weighted bar along the mesh edge that you grip to pull the screen down or across. It keeps the mesh taut.
  • The tracks: Slim side channels guide the mesh edges so insects cannot slip past the sides.
  • The lock: At full extension the bar clicks into a catch at the sill, holding the screen firmly in place.

Keeping It Working Smoothly

Dubai dust is the main enemy of any moving mechanism. A quick wipe of the tracks now and then keeps the mesh gliding freely. Our retractable fly screens in Dubai are built with sealed cassettes that keep most dust out of the mechanism.
