Hinges do all the heavy lifting on a glass door, literally. A full-height glass panel is seriously heavy, and every bit of that weight hangs on two or three small fittings. When hinges start to fail, the door tells you. You just have to know what to listen for.

Here are the warning signs we see on callouts across Dubai.

Signs Your Hinges Are Failing

  • The door drops: The classic symptom. The leading edge sits lower than it should and the door starts catching on the floor or the frame.
  • Scraping sounds: Glass should never touch the floor or frame. Any scraping means the door has moved and the hinges are not holding it.
  • Visible wobble: Push the door gently side to side. Play in the fittings means they have worked loose or worn internally.
  • Stiff or uneven swing: A door that moves freely one way and resists the other often has a failing pivot or a hinge binding under load.
  • Cracks around fittings: Stress cracks in the glass near a patch fitting are serious. Stop using the door and call us.

Repair or Replace?

Loose fittings can often be re-seated and tightened with the door realigned. Worn or cracked patch fittings need replacing with hardware matched to the door’s weight. Our glass door hinge repair in Dubai covers both, and we always check the glass around the fittings for stress damage.
