A door closer is a small box that does a big job, thousands of times a day. Install it right and you forget it exists. Install it wrong and it becomes the most annoying thing in the building.

We install door closers in Dubai on glass, aluminium and timber doors. Here is what a proper installation involves.

Door closer installation in Dubai, new closer fitted on office door frame

What makes an installation last

  1. Right size for the door. Closers are rated by door width and weight. A closer that is too small strains from day one; too big and the door feels heavy. We size to the actual door.
  2. Solid mounting. The closer body and arm bracket need firm fixings into the frame, not just the door face. On glass doors we use the right patch fittings or transom brackets.
  3. Correct arm geometry. The arm angle at rest decides how the closing force feels through the swing. Set it wrong and the door either slams or will not latch.
  4. Speeds set for the space. Closing speed, latching speed and backcheck are adjusted to the door’s location. A school corridor needs different settings from a quiet office.
  5. Tested through the full swing. We open the door fully, let it close, and check the latch, several times, before we call it done.

Common installation mistakes

  • Skipping the size check. The number-one cause of early closer failure.
  • Loose fixings. A closer that wobbles works itself to death.
  • Never adjusted. Factory settings are a starting point, not a finish. Every door needs its speeds dialled in on site.

Commercial buildings with heavy traffic sometimes need heavier-duty solutions; see how we handle automatic door closer repair for high-use entrances.
