The first question most owners ask us is a fair one: are you really going to cut a hole in my glass door? The short answer is no. Tempered glass cannot be cut after it is made, so we do something cleaner.

For a dog flap installation for glass doors, we measure your panel, order a brand-new tempered glass panel with the flap opening cut at the factory, and swap it in. Your door frame stays exactly as it is.

Why a New Panel Is the Right Call

  1. Safety first. Tempered glass is designed to crumble into blunt pieces rather than shards. Cutting it on site would destroy that safety treatment. Factory-cut is the only safe way.
  2. A perfect seal. The flap hole is cut to the flap’s exact template, so the frame sits tight with no gaps for dust or draughts.
  3. Your original panel stays intact. If you rent, we keep your original glass so it can be refitted when you move out. Landlords accept this happily, and your deposit stays safe.

What Happens on Installation Day

We remove the beads or gaskets holding your old panel, lift it out, set the new panel in place, fit the dog flap into its opening, and reseal everything. The whole job usually takes a single visit, and your dog can start training on the flap the same evening.

What About Double Glazing?

Double-glazed units get the same treatment: a sealed unit built with the flap already in place. Read about dog flaps in double glazed doors if your patio door has that thicker, insulated look.

Keep the Old Panel

We hand the original panel back to you. Store it upright in a spare room or the villa store room, wrapped so it does not scratch. When your tenancy ends, it drops straight back into the frame and nobody can tell a flap was ever there.
