Cat flaps work hard in Dubai. Between the dust, the heat, and a cat barging through ten times a day, even a good flap eventually shows its age. The question is always the same: repair it or replace it?

Here is how to judge. And if the flap was fitted by us, remember that cat flap installation in Dubai from Park includes proper fitting that makes later repairs simpler.

Problems worth repairing

  • Sticking flap. Dust in the pivot is the usual cause. A clean and a light silicone spray often fixes it completely.
  • Worn brush seals. Replacement seals are quick to fit and restore the draught barrier.
  • Loose frame screws. Tightening and reseating the frame takes minutes.
  • Dead batteries. In microchip flaps, fresh batteries solve most “it stopped reading my cat” complaints.

Problems that mean replacement

  • Cracked flap or frame. UV damage makes plastic brittle, and cracks only spread.
  • Failed sensor. If a microchip flap no longer reads chips after a battery change, the sensor has likely failed.
  • Warped frame. A frame that no longer sits flat will never seal properly again.

The simple rule

If the fix restores a proper seal, repair it. If the flap still draughts, sticks, or lets in strays after the fix, replace it. A flap that does not seal is just a hole in your door leaking cool air.
