Bathtub with frameless glass bath screen panel

Water pooling outside the bath after a shower usually means one thing: the seal has failed. The glass is fine — the silicone giving up is normal, and resealing fixes it properly.

Why bath screen seals fail

Silicone lives in the hardest spot in the bathroom: constant water, heat, and cleaning chemicals. Over a few years it shrinks, peels, and goes mouldy underneath. Once water finds a path behind it, the leak only grows.

Signs yours needs resealing

  • Water on the floor outside the bath after showering
  • Silicone peeling or pulling away from the glass or wall
  • Black mould under the seal edge that will not clean off
  • The screen wobbles slightly where it meets the wall

How resealing works

  1. Old silicone is cut out completely — new sealant over old sealant never holds.
  2. The joint is cleaned and dried.
  3. Fresh bathroom-grade silicone is applied in a smooth, continuous bead.
  4. It cures before the shower is used again.
