Some noise problems you live with. Airplane noise is not one of them — it comes in waves all day, and it comes straight through windows and doors that do not seal. This is what we did for a villa in Mirdif under the flight path.
The problem
The villa had large sliding windows and patio doors facing the flight path. Every takeoff rattled through the house. The glass itself was fine — the frames, seals, and sliding panels were the weak points, leaking air around every edge.
What we found on inspection
- Perimeter seals flattened and hard — sealing nothing
- Sliding panels slightly out of alignment, leaving uneven gaps
- Dust tracks in the frames showing exactly where air was passing
What we did
- Stripped out the dead seals and resealed every frame.
- Fitted compressible weather strips into the sliding door and window channels.
- Adjusted the sliding panels so they closed square and tight.
The result
