The Track Clean
- Vacuum the track: Get into the channel with a narrow nozzle and pull out the loose dust and grit.
- Brush the corners: A stiff brush loosens the compacted grime where the track meets the frame.
- Wipe, do not oil: A damp cloth finishes the job. Skip oil-based lubricants in the track: they attract dust and make things worse.
The Roller Check
- Listen as it slides: Grinding or rumbling means the rollers are wearing. A smooth door is nearly silent.
- Watch for dragging: If the door sits low or scrapes, the rollers are due for attention.
- Test the lock: A door that has dropped slightly will not lock cleanly. Alignment and lock action go together.
